Kendall Qualls Champions Parents Taking Action Against Liberal Far-Left School Boards
MINNEAPOLIS – Yesterday, San Francisco parents successfully recalled three school board members. The recall was fueled by parents angered by the board’s decision to focus on Critical Race Theory teachings and a policy change that based admission to the district’s most prestigious school based on a lottery rather than merit-based achievement. Parents say the board spent more time renaming schools after “controversial figures” than on efforts to reopen schools and serve the needs of students.
Republican gubernatorial candidate and founder of TakeCharge MN, Kendall Qualls, issued the following statement championing San Francisco parents and advocating for a nationwide recall of school board members that lose focus on the quality of students’ education.
“For two years, I toured Minnesota with my organization TakeCharge listening to parents and learning about the challenges they were facing as they fought against radical school board members and policy changes. Parents know what is best for their kids and their opinion should be considered. Our students are falling behind and it’s up to us to ensure that they have the foundational skills necessary to compete both nationally and internationally. School boards have lost sight of what matters most and any individual who supports critical race theory or the elimination of merit-based achievements should face a recall. In the first six months of my governorship, I will eliminate CRT and equity audits statewide including public schools, colleges and universities.
Yesterday, was a perfect example of parents examining a situation and identifying that those in charge were no longer competent to serve. When liberal cities like San Francisco think policies have gone too far Left, it should send a message everywhere that Democrats have lost focus on the issues that matter most to parents.”
