Kendall Qualls Slams Minneapolis Union as Students Miss Class for Second Straight Week
MINNEAPOLIS – Today marks two weeks since the Minneapolis union went on strike and indefinitely shut 30,000 students out of the classroom. Calling union leaders unreasonable for keeping kids out of school after two years of disrupted learning, Republican gubernatorial candidate Kendall Qualls issued a statement drawing attention to the importance of school choice.
“It is reprehensible that after two years of disrupted learning, our students continue to suffer from missed time in the classroom. This strike proves that parents need school choice now more than ever to ensure that they can make the best decision to meet their individual child’s educational needs.
We want our kids to be able to compete not only with other Minnesota students, but with students across the nation. As part of my 6 in 6 plan, my administration will ensure that the money follows students because every child deserves a quality education to help set themself up for success in the future and that begins with expanded school choice and a solid educational foundation.”
