Kendall Qualls Statement To Walz, “Why Didn’t You Stand Up and Defend Minnesotans?”

MINNEAPOLIS – Scientific experts report the United States has surpassed the peak of Omicron and recent data indicates pandemic restrictions are overall not effective at stopping the spread, leading many U.S. city leaders to eliminate mandates all together. Today, after weeks of pleas from Minnesota Republicans and calls for Governor Walz to lead, Twin Cities leaders eliminated the remaining mask mandate. Republican gubernatorial candidate Kendall Qualls issued the following statement asking Governor Walz why he refused to stand up and defend Minnesotans against government overreach.
“Governor Walz elected to forgo a statewide mandate, yet sat back and was silent as a patchwork of local mandates popped up. Where was the leadership from Walz saying enough is enough? For two years, Americans were told to follow the science. Business owners were hit with obstacle after obstacle. Walz’s lack of urgency and leadership on this issue shows me he doesn’t care whether he drives business investment and families out of the state with harmful policies. That is not the sign of a leader. 2021 saw Minnesota lose its highest number of residents to other states in 30 years, and unless our leadership drastically changes, expect even more people to flee in 2022. I threw my hat in the race for Governor because Minnesota is headed in a radical direction that must be reversed and as a conservative outsider voice, I’m just the man for the job.”
