Kendall Qualls Statement, “Walz Has Lost Total Control”
MINNEAPOLIS – Last night Minneapolis and St. Paul teachers and staff voted to authorize a strike. Republican gubernatorial candidate Kendall Qualls issued a statement disapproving of the current administration’s handling of education and the effect it’s having on Minnesota students.
“From pandemic learning to masking, school shutdowns and teaching CRT, the Walz administration is prioritizing special interest politics over students and parents. Our kids have been the silent victims, losing out on a childhood and a quality education.
Parents are looking for a leader willing to fight, but Walz only shows up for photo ops and then goes home. Real leaders step up to the plate and take charge before situations like teacher strikes and school shutdowns occur. Unfortunately, Governor Walz is beholden to the teachers’ unions, and has lost total control, allowing our kids’ education to become pawns in a bigger political game. My administration would never have allowed the teachers’ unions to reach this point, and as governor, I will work to ensure that parents, students, and teachers feel that their needs are met and concerns addressed.”
